Aaron Silverman | President
Aaron Silverman is President, Co-Founder and Co-Owner of SCB Distributors. A third-generation Southern Californian who has always worked in the book business, Aaron attended the University of California at Los Angeles for three years, studying economics, computer science and mathematics. He then transferred to and graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz, after studying Greek and Latin for three additional years, with a degree in Classics and Classical Literature. After an extended sojourn in Europe, Aaron returned to Los Angeles in 1984; soon met his future wife and business partner; and within months, established Aaron Blake Publishers, publishing a series of literary maps. From this venture in 1988, emerged SCB Distributors. Beginning with one book, today SCB Distributors is a multi-million dollar corporation distributing 4,000 titles from 160 publishers to chains and independent bookstores across North America. Aaron is married to Molly Maguire, Co-Owner of SCB Distributors and they have two daughters, both in college.
Gabriel Wilmoth | Sales & Marketing Manager
Gabriel Wilmoth was born in Portland, Oregon, and, after brief stints in L.A. and Chicago, did most of his growing up in suburban Atlanta. After high school Gabriel took a year off to hike on the Appalachian Trail and travel around North America before returning to Atlanta to attend Georgia State University. After two years he fled to Breckenridge, Colorado, where he spent his time building houses, snowboarding, and leading snowmobile tours. In 1997 Gabriel returned to attend the University of Georgia, from which he graduated summa cum laude with a B.S. in Physical Geography. Always an avid reader and writer, Gabriel fell in love with the book industry as an editorial intern and later Assistant to the Publisher at Hill Street Press in Athens, Georgia, where he worked in publicity, marketing, and sales, learning every aspect of independent publishing. He moved to Los Angeles in the summer of 2003 to work for SCB.
John Jackson was born in Greenville, Mississippi. In 1975, his family moved to Canton, Ohio, where he held an after-school job at a comic book store. John and his family then moved to Los Angeles. There he attended Locke High School, graduating with honors. In 1992, John began working with Samuel French Theater Books in Hollywood, where he ran the warehouse for seven years before joining the staff at SCB in January of 2000.
Molly Maguire | Editorial Director
Molly Maguire is Editorial Director and co-owner of SCB Distributors. Born in Tokyo, she lived in Japan until 1968, when she transferred from Tokyo's Jochi Daigaku (university) to the U.S., earning her B.A., cum laude, in English and political science, from the University of Illinois; and an MFA in Design (abd) at UCLA. She then studied painting at Art Center. A former secondary-school English instructor, she also worked for several years in film development. Since founding Aaron Blake Publishers and SCB with Aaron, she manages most of the visuals and public writing at SCB, in particular the many SCB catalogs; gives the bi-annual sales conference; and plans and implements SCB business and financial strategies. Married to Aaron Silverman, she enjoys a wide range of travel, arts and activities with their two beloved daughters, Katie and Paige.
Victor Duran | General Manager
Born and raised in Los Angeles, Victor Duran earned his B.A. in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. Victor has contributed to many important facets of this expanding company, from data entry and customer service to publisher relations and trade show management. As General Manager, he trains and leads SCB's customer service representatives and warehouse crew, taking pride in SCB's high level of customer and publisher service. In addition to his appreciation for the written word, Victor is an avid sports fan of all L.A. franchises, including the Dodgers, the Lakers, USC football and UCLA basketball, as well as the Oakland Raiders. He also enjoys body surfing, golfing and snow skiing. Victor lives in Long Beach, CA, with his wife, Chrisann, and their daughter, Victoria Catherine.
